Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute To Love... Designer melodrama in the form of the ultimate musical opera. With a stellar ensemble cast of twelve of Hindi cinema’s most interesting actors, and one pioneering Director at the helm, this should be a real treat as opposed to much of the drivel that has been delivered of late.
A sensitive story of six couples (often mooted as the Desi Love Actually) and their trials and tribulations in love. Why watch this? It’s special, and we don’t say that too often... Made by whiz-kid Nikhil Advani after his acrimonious split from Karan Johar, it’s interesting for this fact alone. After delivering the sharp and soulful Kal Ho Naa Ho, he’s back with what seems a surefire hit.
All the more interesting as it has always been said as Assistant Director he was the real brains behind Johar’s iconic opuses Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Though Johar’s last movie became the biggest Bollywood hit internationally, it was widely thought to have faltered regards content – much of it due to Advani’s departure. Now!?? All eyes on Advani.
Much of this movie was shot in the UK, the Oxford shoot covered by Future Movies (article coming soon!!) Watch this space...
Cue bagpipes!!
