Live! Review
Strring Eva Mendes

Live! is one of those films that must have seemed terribly edgy and topical when it was first proposed. Eva Mendes, looking absolutely fabulous, plays a hard-nosed TV executive who comes up with the idea of a Russian Roulette style show where one of the participants will die. The twist, if it can be so described, is that she herself is the subject of a fly on the wall style documentary being shot by David Krumholz. There’s the germ of an interesting idea here, and the design of the show, shot in real time, is genuinely tense, but the satirical edge is blunted by an ending which shows whose side director Guttentag was on all along.
In cinemas now.
